Bleeding

Hearts.

Casted bleeding hearts represent the times in my life when my heart has bled. These moments reflect internal pain while still maintaining the outward appearance that everything is okay. My definition of a bleeding heart is not one of fragility, but of resilience. When you are experiencing deep hurt, yet still functioning and moving forward. This is often unnoticed by others.

The death of a father, a cancer diagnosis, multiple heart attacks, and the unexpected loss of a beloved pet are experiences my family has navigated, and times I have maintained an outwardly positive front while internally struggling. These moments of pain are represented by four cast bleeding heart plants. Each heart marks one of these events. The quad ring band represents my immediate family, holding these experiences together.

At the center is a faceted stone representing our faith, the foundation of our family. Its placement reflects its role as a constant source of support and stability through each of these experiences.

 Beautiful People. Beautiful Memories.

Beautiful People, Beautiful Memories honors the powerful women in my life and the experiences we’ve shared. Each piece of jewelry carries a story  of inheritance, quality time, and meaningful places.

The first jewelry set is made from lapis and components from a bracelet that belonged to my great-grandmother. The original bangle was cut, flattened, and transformed into a new cuff and ring band. Lapis has held special significance in my family for more than twenty years. My mother once owned a large, high-grade piece of lapis given to her by my great aunt. It was stolen fifteen years later, and replaced by my grandparents. The lapis, combined with the reclaimed cuff elements, symbolizes the endurance of family stories and the importance of a matriarch to hold family together.

The second set of jewelry is made with Montana agate, representing the meaningful memories I’ve made in Montana. Montana agate is commonly found along the Yellowstone River and in other areas throughout the state. Since moving to Montana with my sister, we’ve shared countless incredible experiences. The necklace pendant features a piece of Montana agate set on a Beaver Lake backplate. The earrings are designed using the outline of Fish Lake in Wenatchee, Washington, where our family owned a cabin for fifteen years. These pieces honor both the new memories we’ve created and the old ones that shaped our family.

Beaverhead River Necklace.

Created after a weekend on my favorite river experiencing fish, moose, and ducks up close. The lush ecosystem of the Beaverhead River make it truly one of a kind. This project aimed to capture the organic beauty of Dillion, MT. The reticulated surface and organic shapes outline the upper river when laid flat.
